“Milan, the city of lined trees – Environmental and landscape value, history and future”

Landscape architecture; Research and development/Design; Master’s degree; Part-time; Duration in months: 2; Total duration in hours: 100; no access to company premises required: 70% of the work is carried out remotely and 30% involves travel around Milan for on-site study of tree-lined avenues.

INTERN PROGRAM

Map and ecological, landscape and cultural values.

Analysis of Milan’s tree lines, historical, landscape and environmental value. Present and future: preservation of historical-landscape features, adaptation to climate change, species analysis, Milan’s tree lines of the future.

Analysis of the urban structure of the city of Milan in relation to tree lines. Photographic survey and description of tree lines. Topographical representation of the city of Milan in tree lines.

The role of tree lines in cities. Knowledge of the multiple ecosystem services provided by urban tree lines. Ability to identify the main morphometric and vegetative characteristics of urban trees.

Understanding of the role of street trees in cities. Knowledge of the multiple ecosystem services provided by urban tree lines. Ability to identify the main morphometric and vegetative characteristics of urban trees. Knowledge of the vulnerability factors of each of the main street tree species in urban environments.

Recognition of the most important tree species in the city of Milan.

Ability to carry out a survey of the actual condition of large green areas, to take representative photographs of the condition of the areas and to produce the relevant graphic and documentary material. Ability to carry out assigned tasks independently.

Ability to identify the main species of street trees in the city of Milan. Mapping the tree lines of Milan.
